Inside the AbyoKalaM hot-fire campaign
How a bootstrapped test facility in India runs repeat hot fires on the AbyoKalaM engine family — and what each firing teaches us about reusability.

Testing is the product
Reusable launch is not won on a render. It is won on the test stand, one firing at a time, with instrumentation that tells you the truth. Every AbyoKalaM hot fire is treated as a data run first and a milestone second.
The campaign is deliberately repetitive: same stand, same procedure, incremental changes to injector geometry, cooling and sequencing. Repeatability is what turns a working engine into a flight engine.
What we measure
Chamber pressure and thrust traces across the full burn, thermal behaviour of the cooling circuit, ignition transients, and hardware condition after shutdown. Post-fire teardown decides whether a component is reflight-ready or redesigned.
Hardware that survives a firing untouched is the single strongest signal for a reusable architecture — it is the metric we optimise for.
Where it leads
The same propulsion discipline scales into the RV vehicle family. Engines qualified on the ground now define the margins we design flight vehicles around, rather than the other way round.
