/ Milestones

Every number here was earned on a test stand.

Abyom's progress is measured in hardware — ignitions, hot fires, qualified structures — not announcements. Below is the record, and the dual-use defence capability that comes with it.

  1. 2020 – 2022

    Space Research Program

The programme starts as research and outreach — building the team, the physics and the first institutional relationships.

    • Space Research Program established
    • First MoU with ISRO's Space Tutor programme
  2. 2023

    Rocket Engine Testing Facility

Abyom moves from paper to hardware with its own containerised test facility, funded by its first external round.

    • Rocket Engine Testing Facility built and commissioned
    • Pre-Seed investment raised
  3. 2024

    Injector validation

The core of the AbyoKalaM engine — the injector — is characterised run by run until the spray, mixing and stability are repeatable.

    • Injector validation campaign completed
    • Test campaign to validate pintle injection and atomization
  4. 2025

    India's 1st commercial space infrastructure

Test infrastructure becomes a product: qualified facilities other organisations can book, backed by signed commercial intent.

    • Built India's 1st commercial space infrastructure
    • LOIs & MoUs signed for commercialisation
  5. 2026

    BSE-2 Ethanol–GOX test bed

A dedicated ethanol–GOX bed takes the engine line to reusable hot-fire duty cycles.

    • BSE-2 Ethanol–GOX test bed built
    • Built and tested India's 1st reusable rocket engine
  6. 2027 · Design target

    First flight window

Design target, not a committed date: structures, avionics and recovery systems integrate for vehicle-level qualification ahead of the Reusable Sounding Rocket's maiden flight.

    • Stage & recovery qualification
    • Sounding Rocket maiden flight — design target
/ Dual-use defence technology

A launch vehicle is also a strategic asset.

Propulsion

Compact, storable-fuel engines and test methodology transfer directly to tactical propulsion programmes.

Systems integration

Structures, propulsion and control integrated and qualified as one flight article.

Test & qualification

Instrumented ground testing methodology that de-risks hardware before it flies.

Responsive launch

Launch on demand — the ability to place a payload in orbit on national timelines, not someone else's manifest.
